EMPOWER your students to TAKE THE NEXT STEP!
The Man In The Black Chucks wears the most powerful sneakers in the world—old, faded and dusty Converse with holes on the sides. His shoes tell the story of his real life adventure, on being “that kid”- the kid that only had one pair of shoes, the kid that was bullied because his house wasn’t as nice as everyone else’s, the kid who teachers counted out because of his repeatedly worn clothes, the kid some thought would end up in prison- we all know that kid. Faced with beyond humble circumstances, The Man in the Black Chucks weathered these obstacles by one thing and one thing only- perseverance (never giving up)! Even through hardships and facing adversity, he continues to take legendary steps in his beat up shoes, reminding students it doesn’t matter where you come from or been through - what matters most is where you’re headed!

Perfect For Your School
The Man in the Black Chucks is on a mission to empower students to take control over their “steps” and to leave a lasting footprint on this world. “These steps” are delivered through letters written in his journal full of life experiences. He hopes to instill in students that their environment doesn’t have to dictate their future. With the proper social and emotional skills (SEL), students are able to navigate life’s journey while being equipped with the proper tools to build self confidence, make positive choices, and support one another.
